Biography
Art has always been a part of my life. I was born in Arkansas with a pilot light for art and wanted to pursue fashion design as a career choice. However, I was encouraged to find a practical profession, such as teaching. I took as many art classes in college as time would allow and I never lost sight of my first love, painting.
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas and a Master of Management from Houston Baptist University.
After teaching for 7 years, I entered the corporate world and made it to the executive ranks of a major oil company in Houston, Texas. Seven years ago, I was fortunate to be able to devote time to my art and volunteer fundraising opportunities for non-profit organizations.
My husband and I relocated to Mobile in 2007 from Little Rock, Arkansas and just recently moved back to Little Rock. My art has been sold through Elements of Design, the Art Scene, Stephano's Gallery and art shows at Chenal Country Club and Lilly's (all in Little Rock). I was selected as one of 84 Arkansas artists to participate in the 2008 Arkansas Artists Calendar, sponsored by the Governor's office. I was the featured artist in Inviting Arkansas magazine, March 2006 and Maumelle magazine, April 2006. I have also had featured work in At Home in Arkansas magazine, June 2007 and Traditional Home, November 2005. My work is in many private and corporate art collections.
My work is primarily large abstracts in acrylic; however, I have most recently been working in oil. Except for the art classes that I took in college, I am basically self-taught. Most recently I participated in an art workshop at Ashland Gallery in Mobile, taught by Bill Thompson. I also had one on one pastel sessions with Jane Schoenfeld in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
